Associate professor in primary science education (M/F)

Mission: 

The Associate Professor will be a member of the research unit EMACS (Educational Measurement and Applied Cognitive Sciences). The role of the associate professor will be to:

Conduct research in primary science education – preference will be given to candidates that demonstrate a focus on interdisciplinary approaches to science education, as well as candidates with an experience in education for sustainable development;Participate in the development of teacher preparation programs for science education at the primary and post-primary level (cycle inférieur de l’enseignement secondaire);Engage in national and international collaborations to further the teaching of science at the primary levels – Collaborative activities are anticipated to be carried out in connection with local schools;Competences in the domain of evaluation and assessment are considered an advantage. 

The Associate Professor will teach in the Bachelor of Educational Sciences (BScE), notably: 

Teaching tasks will focus on the teaching, learning, and assessing of science competencies especially in primary school with an interdisciplinary perspective;Tasks will include supervising student teachers in their internships in Luxembourgish schools during the school year;Teaching of preservice teachers will be structured according to the national curriculum and includes a focus of science education that includes health education, education for sustainable development, community-based education, and environmental education.  

Profile: 

Qualifications, experience, aptitude:

A relevant doctorate (PhD).A minimum of 3 years' post-doctoral experience in the teaching and research of primary science education or a related field as relevant for the position.Strong teaching and organization experience in teacher training programs.International expertise and a record of research activities and publications with a focus on science education at the primary school level and / or teacher education for teaching of science at the primary school level. 

Languages:

Proficiency in 2 of the 3 languages of the University (French, German, English).
