Position Description:
The German University in Cairo is looking for a full time highly able and motivated applicant wishing to join the Graphic Design Department. He/She should have broad-based experience in Graphic Design, with at least one specialization in the following disciplines; typography, information design, corporate identity, interactive design, editorial and book design, and emerging fields of graphic design practice.
Qualifications:
Applicants should hold a Masters Degree or German diploma in design or related area.Minimum 3 years' of practical experience, teaching experience will be an asset.Candidates should present evidence of innovative pedagogical approaches and demonstrate their abilities to respond to the complex regional and global challenges of a design education, and an interest in the specific needs for a design education in the Egyptian context.Updated knowledge of current and future issues within the field of design education-excellence in research, scholarship, design or creative practice.Competence of working well with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, professional training and aesthetic sensibilities.Understanding of the implications of design practice in relationship to broader social, cultural, economic, scientific and technological forces.Ability to develop and nurture students' design abilities according to project- and environmental properties.Strong commitment to progressive design education principles regarding a self organized and responsible design study.Strong competences to structure and define project goals in order to foster and motivate positive experiences.Curiosity to widen the perception within the design discipline and thus create a foundation for design oriented actions and mindsets.Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills.Good management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines, communicate and motivate effectively.The German University in Cairo is an Egyptian Private University, established in cooperation with the German State Universities of Ulm and Stuttgart, under the patronage of the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts, State of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany, and supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German Embassy in Cairo, the Arab/German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK), the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the Universities of Stuttgart, Ulm, Mannheim, and Tübingen.
