About the Role
Queen Mary, University of London is a member of the Russell Group and one of the UK's leading higher education institutions. With around 3,000 staff and 15,000 students, Queen Mary has four main campuses spanning Central and East London and delivers world class degree programmes and research covering a wide range of subjects as a multi-faculty institution.

Queen Mary, University of London seeks to recruit a Director of Occupational Health and Safety to play a significant, expert role in ensuring that it complies with a wide range of legislative and other duties. You will lead a team of 20 staff to provide professional advice to members of Queen Mary at all levels, including our students, the Principal and his Senior Executive, and members of Council.

Responsibilities
We are seeking an exceptional individual who will be highly credible with academic schools and institutes. Candidates for the role will have substantial experience of managing health and safety which includes a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation. You will have knowledge and understanding of the scientific bases of workplace hazards including biological, chemical, radiological, electrical, physical and psychological hazards combined with an ability to assess risks that these hazards pose.

Remuneration & Benefits
The post is full time and permanent. Starting salary will be circa £65k per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Additional Information
Candidates must be able to demonstratetheir eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration,Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entryclearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
