Vacancy Overview

Applications are invited for an Assistant Professor in the Department of Politics and International Studies (PAIS) and the recently established Warwick Q-Step Centre.

This is one of eight new permanent posts that will join an existing team of quantitative social science scholars as part of the Warwick Q-Step Centre. Whilst based in Politics and International Studies, you will be a member of a broader team within the new Warwick Q-Step Centre.

We welcome applications in all subfields of the discipline and especially in areas of its existing expertise, such as: International Relations, International Security, Political Geography, International Political Economy, and Comparative Politics. Applications are encouraged across the full range of social statistics and quantitative research approaches, broadly defined.

You will be required to deliver high quality publications in Politics and International Studies. In addition, you will be expected to develop bids for external funding for research, and to teach Politics and International Studies on the Department’s new degree in ‘Politics, International Studies and Quantitative Methods’, and its other existing BA and MA degree programmes. There will also be scope for developing a new MA in Quantitative Political Science. Teaching will concentrate on core and optional modules in quantitative methods. An aptitude for applied quantitative social science research is essential.

We would particularly welcome applications from female candidates and those from a minority ethnic background, as they are currently under represented within the department.
