Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM)

Salary: £75,249 - £101,451 per annum (starting salary depending upon experience)

Full-time, Permanent Post (senior appointee), or 3 year fixed term contract renewable to 5 years based on performance (CSL)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to further strengthen the profile of LSTM in Child Health Research through the appointment of an outstanding candidate with an excellent research profile in the area of survival, morbidity, growth and development during infancy and early childhood.  Working in partnership with Alder Hey Children’s Hospital (AHCH) you will be expected to work with other national and international stakeholders and have the ability to form networks of collaborators in other academic institutions, including overseas.  LSTM has particular links with the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Programme of Clinical Research.

Clinical work in the UK will be undertaken at AHCH, where the post holder will undertake duties as a Consultant Physician. Applicants will need to hold a CST or equivalent.  Field experience in a developing country setting is essential.  Sub-speciality training in any major area of paediatrics would be an advantage.

A record of publishing original research in peer-reviewed journals is essential, as is evidence of previous/current research grant funding. We are particularly keen to appoint someone with a strong record of generating significant external funding (grants, contracts etc) to support future research projects.

The appointee will be required to contribute to excellent teaching in tropical Paediatrics and may take part in the clinical service at LSTM depending on experience.
