Applications are invited for the post of clinical informatics data manager (research), full-time for 18 months in the first instance, with a view to extending it subject to continuing funding. The post will include five sessions in the Primary Care & Population Sciences (PCPS) Academic Unit, Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton (supervisor Prof Tony Kendrick); and five sessions in the Southampton NIHR Biomedical Research Centre in Nutrition (NBRC), University Hospital Southampton (supervisor Prof Alan Jackson). The post is office-based; 50% at Aldermoor Health Centre and 50% at Southampton General Hospital (half a mile apart).
The post will involve cleaning and managing data and helping with statistical analysis (using SAS, Stata or SPSS), of anonymised clinical information from the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), and of data from research projects conducted in the NBRC. Applications are invited from candidates with a higher degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Information Management, or a related field. Experience using data management programmes including Excel, XML and SQL is essential, and experience in clinical informatics desirable, especially analysing health related databases, including the CPRD or GPRD.
