The Oxford Biomedical Research Centre is a partnership between the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Oxford funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). The aim of this funding is to enable clinical research and foster innovation to improve health care by direct patient benefit.
Two Clinical Research Training Fellowships are available to undertake a doctorate in an area of translational research in one of the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre Research Themes or Working Groups. Candidates should have identified an NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre supervisor and translational project in advance of application and should be able to take up post by October 2014.
The posts are offered in conjunction with Oxford University Clinical Academic Graduate School (OUCAGS) which supports clinical academic training in Oxford. The Fellowships are available for up to 3 years depending on the candidate needs and whether they have completed part of their research degree.

Who can apply
Candidates must be medically qualified, should be GMC registered, have completed core training within a UK training programme and/or hold an NTN and MRCP or equivalent. Applicants should have a strong academic record and some research experience with previous publication of research articles an advantage. A strong commitment to the pursuit of excellence and evidence of the ability to develop a research project is essential.
Scheme details
Salary will be in the range £31,301 - £50,167 p.a. depending on qualifications and experience. The posts will be offered full-time on a fixed-term contract for up to 3 years depending on the individual needs of the candidate and whether they have already completed part of a research degree. Fees for doctoral study are included at Home/EU rate, if liable for International Fees the candidate will be responsible for the difference between the fee rates. The award will be made subject to successful application for a DPhil place at the University of Oxford.
