The Institute of Psychiatry are seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Worker to join its Seclusion and Psychiatric Intensive Care Evaluation Study (SPICES) research team.
Working within the Health Services and Population Research Department, the post holder will be a key member of the evaluation team, working in conjunction with the SPICES project coordinator, study statistician and health economists on the quantitative component of this study (SPICES Study 1).
The post-holder will be responsible for the processing, coding and validation of data taken from a large database of anonymised electronic patient records, so a high level of facility in data management and analysis will be required, in addition to the ability to carefully create analysis variables by the manual coding of data from the free-text part of the records. The work is likely to be performed using a variety of software packages, including Excel, Stata, SAS and SQL Server 2008. The post will provide valuable experience in methods of working with healthcare data for research and quality improvement.
Appointment will be made at grade 6, within the salary range £31,331-£37,382 + £2,323 London Allowance, per annum.
