Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant in Archaeological Sciences

This post forms part of an AHRC funded large grant project entitled ‘Fragmented Heritage’ which will focus on digital transformations. The project will introduce new 3D digital analysis techniques to archaeological materials and focuses on lithic and faunal remains. The role is to work as part of the project team to conduct research related to the analysis of lithic and faunal remains from Jordan. The successful applicant will be responsible for co-ordination of work packages related to the analysis of material from Jordan and the lithic microwear analysis and refitting of samples.

It is essential that the candidate has a PhD in Archaeology, knowledge of working practices related to fieldwork organisation in Jordan and a background in lithic microwear analysis. It is desirable that the candidate also has experience in broader lithic analysis of Jordanian material and the application of surface metrology to lithic microwear analysis and/or refitting analysis. It is also desirable that the applicant has a grasp of Jordanian Arabic, and the ability to manage a field and remote laboratory team.
