This is an exciting career opportunity to work within a company which specialises in the production and distribution of industrial catering equipment worldwide, on a two year project in collaboration with Metcalfe Catering Ltd and the Menai Innovation Centre, Coleg Menai.
The successful applicant will possess excellent technical, presentational and interpersonal skills, in order to develop and introduce a streamlined and creative product development process that will introduce new lightweight materials, so as to utilise advances in manufacturing technology to support the company’s strategic plan to modernise its extensive product portfolio.
Support, mentoring and training from the senior management team of the company and academic team, coupled with a with a generous training budget supported by a 24 month Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP). The successful applicant will be largely based at Metcalfe Catering’s site near Blaenau Ffestiniog, within the picturesque Snowdonia National Park.
Main Tasks:
The KTP Associate will be supported to lead and facilitate the review and implementation of a new and innovative design to manufacture system, with particular emphasis on existing products and utilising the very latest advances in technology to establish a new product development process that enables the company to introduce an innovative changes.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Evaluate and review existing design to manufacture processes and sub-systemsAnalyze and asses requirements for the procurement and installation of CADLead the development of a new design to manufacture systems to support new product development. This will involve: conducting background research in to capabilities and limitations of existing systems and softwareReview potential of introducing lightweight composite materials to productsCreate new product coding systemDevelop and implement New Product Development processCreate and develop concept models from existing product range utilising new NPD processEvaluate and introduce new manufacturing processesCreate new product to validate the New Product Development ProcessThe post holder will primarily be based in the host company but employed by Grwp Llandrillo-Menai. The successful candidate will be expected to attend appropriate training as agreed with the supervisors which is linked to the project and their personal development.
