The Department of Economics at the University of Sussex invites applications for a Reader in Economics. Over the past five years faculty numbers in the Department of Economics at Sussex have increased almost threefold as a direct result of a strategic programme of targeted recruitment aimed at intensifying the quality and depth of our established strengths in applied policy-relevant research. Building on this rapid expansion we are continuing to invest in our research and teaching capability as part of the University’s strategy of investment into the School of Business, Management and Economics. We are looking for researchers with outstanding potential to provide leadership in a dynamic economics department which attracts high quality postgraduate and undergraduate students.
Candidates should have an excellent record of conducting leading edge research in economics, reflected in a strong publication record. They will have success in attracting research funding and should also have extensive experience of high quality teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students, including the effective supervision of PhD students. Successful candidates will be expected to play a leading role in advancing the department’s research strategy, to assist in the development of a high quality teaching portfolio and to contribute to departmental and university administration.
We are seeking expertise across all areas of Economics and Econometrics. Our core strengths lie in; development, international trade, labour & education, quantitative economic history and environment & energy. In addition to this post we also seek to appoint a Professor of Economics and two Lecturers in Economics.
