The Role

Join one of the largest research groups in the university, and you will work on a Specific Targeted Research Project (STREP) funded by European Union's Framework 7. The project’s main goal is to design, implement and evaluate a next generation communication network for Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) agencies, supported by network operators and industry. Liaising closely with the Principal Investigator, research partners, and WMN research group colleagues, you will implement end-to-end security mechanisms for peer to peer services in PPDR communication systems.
The Person
After gaining a PhD or MSc in electronic and electrical engineering, computer science or a related area you will have developed a strong track record of high quality publications in the field of wireless communications. Direct experience of developing and testing security, mobility and routing algorithms for peer to peer ad hoc and LTE networks will be essential, as will knowledge of future internet infrastructures and distributed network algorithms. You will also have sound knowledge of simulation packages, such as NS-2 or -3, OMNeT++, MATLAB, as well as C, C++ or similar subject-orientated programming languages.
The Faculty / Department
The Faculty of Science, Engineering and Computing (SEC) is the newest and largest faculty at Kingston University. Set up in 2011, we bring together three existing faculties and eight schools at Kingston and aim to encourage interdisciplinary research, improve the scope of the student experience and encourage partnerships between academia and industry.
