We are seeking to employ a full time Researcher/Research Assistant within a well-established research team. The Unit for Social and Community Psychiatry conducts research on social interactions in mental health care, including developing and evaluating novel interventions, with a leading role in international collaborations. In 2012, the Unit has been designated as a WHO Collaborating Centre, the only one specifically for Mental Health Services Development in the world. The Unit is headed by Professor Stefan Priebe and located at the Newham Centre for Mental Health.
The post holder will contribute to the European Commission 7th Framework Programme funded study “Comparing policy framework, structure, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of Functional and Integrated systems of mental health care (COFI)”. The study begins in February 2014 and aims to compare the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of the functional and integrated systems of mental health care in Europe. The study will involve the collection of routine outcome data from services, interviews by standardized quantitative measures and in-depth interviews.
The study will be conducted in five countries (Belgium, Germany, Italy, Poland, United Kingdom) with the Unit for Social and Community Psychiatry being the coordinating centre. The post-holder will carry out quantitative interviews and in-depth interviews; collect routine mental health services outcome data; and contribute to overall study coordination, analysis of data, dissemination of findings and reporting to the European Commission.
Candidates should hold an undergraduate degree in psychology or a related social science. Knowledge of mental health services and experience of mental health research are essential.
This is a full-time fixed term post for 4 years. Salary will be on the Research Grade Scale 4 (£28,457-£34,283 per annum) inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
