Social, Economic and Geographical Sciences (SEGS)
Salary commensurate with experience
Applications are invited for a three-year Research Fellowship focused on understanding farmer production decisions and farm household behavior. The successful applicant will join a team of researchers at the James Hutton Institute working at UK, European and global levels on a range of areas including farmer attitudes and behavior towards new varieties and production techniques, the management of environmental assets, uptake of and renewable energy, and the impact of CAP reform and climate change policy.
Applicants must have, or be nearing completion, a PhD in a relevant subject (e.g. economics, agricultural economics, environmental economics) and demonstrable experience in applied economic analysis. For more senior appointments, an established publication record is required. An awareness of agricultural and rural development issues in Scotland is highly desirable while a willingness to engage in team work and interdisciplinary research is essential. For appointment at the higher salary scale, evidence of grant-winning ability is required. The fellowship comes with generous start-up costs and the candidate would be considered for a tenured position subject to successful progress.
All individuals wishing to work within the UK must be entitled to do so before they can be employed.
