University Lectureship in Earth Sciences

We invite applications from creative and innovative candidates with research interests related to low-temperature geochemistry, particularly those working in areas related to one or more of the following: weathering processes, tectonics and climate, dynamic topography, diagenesis, low temperature mineral and fluid thermodynamics, bio-geochemistry, mineralization and carbon capture & storage.

Candidates should have an outstanding record of research in a relevant subject area and will be expected to develop a vigorous research programme at an international level.

The persons appointed will be expected to contribute to the Department's undergraduate teaching at various levels, and to take part in field teaching. At elementary level they may be asked to help with teaching outside their field of specialisation.  We welcome applications from persons with degrees in Earth Sciences or allied disciplines.

The successful applicants will be expected to contribute to the research activity of the Department leading to interaction with academic staff across several areas of the subject, to supervise research students and actively to seek external funds to support their research.  The Department assists new academic staff as much as possible to establish their research in Cambridge. A wide range of geochemical analytical equipment is available including gas source mass-spectrometers in the Godwin Laboratories, new thermal ionisation and MC-ICP mass-spectrometers, electron microprobe, clean chemistry laboratories among the other facilities.
