Kaplan International College London
Kaplan International College London is in partnership with City University, the University of Westminster and for postgraduate students, Cranfield University, with programmes designed to prepare international students for entry into these universities. Students study a suite of subject, academic English and academic skills modules. The first students were admitted to the College in September 2008.
The role
The purpose of the role is to deliver highly effective teaching to Pre-Masters and Foundation students during their programmes, with a particular focus on business, law and social science areas
Business, law and social science subject areas include economics, organisational behaviour, marketing, politics, social sciences and accounting. We are particularly interested in candidates that have experience teaching economics, accounting and business studies.
Main responsibilities and functions
Reporting to the module coordinator and programme leader, you will be responsible for:
Delivering between 10 - 18 hours teaching per week to international students studying on programmes offered by the college and assisting with the development of modulesDeveloping formative and summative assessments, marking and providing feedback to studentsFacilitating student access and assisting with the development and maintenance of the college Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)Providing input for related modules to the annual review and reporting processMaintaining an accurate and up-to-date record of student attendance and performanceProvide academic learning support to individuals/small groupsAttending and participating regular internal meetings with teaching and support staff as well as representing the college at appropriate events and meetings when required.Candidate profile
As the successful candidate, you will enjoy working with international students, be student-focused and performance driven. In addition you will have:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area with a minimum of a Master’s degree for Pre-masters teachingTeaching experience within a UK higher education contextExperience of working with international studentsAbility to develop and update teaching materialExperience of working within a Virtual Learning Environment (desired)Competent administrative IT skills (Microsoft Office suite, etc.)A student-centred and client-focused approachStrong record-keeping skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsFlexibility and the ability to work under pressure to deadlinesGoal drivenEnthusiasm and motivation to be a performance-driven team player.Candidates with an appropriate level of teaching experience may be considered for additional lecturing on the programme.
