Our Divisions of Cancer Therapeutics (which includes the Cancer Research UK Centre for Cancer Therapeutics) and Clinical Studies (which the Prostate Cancer targeted Therapy team is also a part of), make up a multidisciplinary 'bench to bedside' centre comprising several hundred staff dedicated to the discovery and clinical development of innovative drugs for the treatment of cancer. We have designed and generated multiple new anticancer drugs, many of which have been tested in cancer patients. Some of these have become standard treatments for cancer patients; these include the drug abiraterone acetate, which has been recently approved worldwide for the treatment of patients with advanced prostate cancer. The development of this drug was driven by the Prostate Cancer Targeted Therapy team, which is led by Professor Johann de Bono and includes almost forty staff members. Our team has recently been awarded a $10 million grant as part of The Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) Prostate Cancer Dream team and is also the recipient of multiple other grants focused on decreasing suffering from cancer.

An exciting position has risen for a clinical data manager, to work within the Prostate Targeted therapy Group which undertakes both investigator- and industry-sponsored early phase clinical trials of new anticancer drugs.  The post holder will be educated to at least degree level in life sciences/nursing, with previous experience of working in Oncology clinical trials. They must be able to manage several complex studies at a time and will be key to communication both within the clinical study team and with external partners, ensuring that studies are run to protocol and in accordance with ICH-GCP.

The post holder must be highly organised and able to plan work around a busy clinical unit. They should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to interact effectively with unit staff and patients.

Appointment will be on a fixed term contract for one year in the first instance, with a starting salary on a SO scale Point 4, currently £23,742p.a.
