We are seeking to recruit an qualified building designer (ideally with both professional and academic experience) with vision, focus and leadership skills to manage an exceptionally talented team of experienced academic staff. The School provides one of the best educational opportunities for staff and students in the UK in subject disciplines relating to the Design and Built Environment. The School has nearly 3000 students and 127 staff and resides in RIBA award winning buildings on the city site which incorporates the new Creative Virtual Technologies Lab. The School has five academic subject discipline teams; Architecture, Surveying, Construction, Product Design, Civil Engineering. The programmes range from undergraduate to postgraduate taught courses through to research and doctorial studies. Programmes within the School are accredited by The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), The Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT), The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, The Charted Society of Designers(CSD)The Chartered Institute of Building, The Institute Civil Engineering, and the Institute of Design Engineers.
The courses within the Architecture subject area are Architecture, Architectural Technology and Interior Architecture and Design at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. All the awards have appropriate professional body accreditation, RIBA, CIAT and CSD. The School looks to promote innovation and a multi-disciplinary approach, working closely with industry, the professions and practice. The Architecture undergraduate course is validated RIBA Part One and the new postgraduate award has ‘Candidate for recognition status’. The Architectural Technology awards at undergraduate and postgraduate are accredited with CIAT, the postgraduate programme being one of the first in the UK.
The School is committed to developing high quality research outputs and scholarly activity and has significant recent success in a number of areas.
