Summary of Job Purpose and Principal Duties

Lead for Nurse Education and TrainingTo assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive education programme for the research nursing staff covering both clinical training and research training.To coordinate the research nurses workload and visiting schedules.

Clinical Research Responsibilities

To coordinate the recruitment of patients to the unit’s portfolio of trials within NHS Tayside, Fife and Forth Valley.To assist in line management the of Research NursesTo coordinate and schedule all patient visits in accordance with Study ProtocolsTo lliaise with project managers to ensure coordination and optimisation of the allocation of staff and project resources.To safeguard interest of patients by liaison with relevant trial personnel and protocol and ensure compliance with ICH GCP GuidelinesTo assist in the implementation of a comprehensive training programme for nursing staff in post – to include regularly training meetings to be held centrally at the co-ordinating centreTo set up, monitor, maintain and evaluate the central record of training kept for all nursing staff working in line with the Department of Health Research Governance Framework and mandatory University of Dundee requirements.To act as a mentor to new staffTo assist with annual training needs analysis for each nurse staff memberTo actively participate in maintaining own professional development identifying own educational and clinical training needs in conjunction with the Senior Clinical Research ManagerTo assist with the design and delivery of regional educational meetings, multidisciplinary study days and workshops for all members of the nursing research team.To promote understanding of clinical research by raising awareness of clinical trials amongst healthcare professionals, patients and the public.To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current research that is being undertaken, and facilitate the development of knowledge in others using a variety of methods.
