John Radcliffe, Oxford
Grade 6: £26,264 - £31,331 p.a. (1% pay award pending)
An exciting opportunity is available for a registered nurse to play a key role in providing support to the paediatric clinical research projects undertaken within the Thames Valley through South Central Children’s Research (SoCCR). Working with clinical investigators, mainly in the Children’s Hospital in Oxford and occasionally at hospitals and PCT’s across the Thames Valley region, you will support the conduct and delivery of high quality paediatric clinical research.
This post would suit an enthusiastic registered nurse with an adult or paediatric background, who is up for a challenge. The main responsibilities include coordinating study setup, obtaining informed consent and recruiting study participants, collecting blood and other samples, administering study medication, monitoring study participants for adverse events, maintaining study documentation and liaising with clinical and non-clinical personnel (NHS, academic, industry) to deliver research projects. Research or phlebotomy experience is not essential as all necessary training will be provided. The post will provide the unique opportunity of working across specialties within paediatrics. It would ideally suit individuals who are either looking for a period of research training within their clinical careers or those who wish to build on their existing experience in clinical research and further develop their careers in the area.
This fixed-term position is full-time (Monday - Friday) and available for 12 months in the first instance. The job may also involve a small amount of travelling which would be facilitated by having access to one’s own transport.
For an informal discussion/visit please contact Louise Willis, Senior Research Nurse on 01865 231729.
The closing date for applications is 12.00 midday on 13 December 2013. Interviews are scheduled for 8 January 2014
