Summary of Job Purpose and Principal Duties
COLLEGE OF MEDICINE, DENTISTRY & NURSING
Medical Research Institute
Grade 7 (£29,541 - £36,298)
A position is available in the laboratory of Professor Kevin Hiom in the Medical Research Institute at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. Our research focuses on the regulation of DNA repair to promote genome stability and how this relates to cancer predisposition.
The following position is available for 36 months from early 2014.
We are looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow funded through a Cancer Research UK programme grant to investigate the mechanisms through which cells undertake replication-mediated repair of DNA damage caused by therapeutic agents such as PARP inhibitors, cisplatin and ionizing radiation. This work will involve in vitro and in vivo biochemical approaches to identify and characterize factors that contribute to repair of DNA breaks at collapsed replication forks. Prior experience with in vitro and in vivo biochemical assays, molecular and cellular biology and mammalian cell culture is desirable. Experience in researching the role of DNA repair in the maintenance of genome stability would be advantageous.
For informal enquiries, applicants should in the first instance contact Professor Kevin Hiom on 01382 383360 or k.hiom@dundee.ac.uk. We regret that we are unable to accept applications by email.
