Applications are invited for a Research Assistant position funded by an NIHR grant. You will join a team led by Dr Robert Semple studying the mechanisms underlying human disorders of segmental overgrowth. You will be responsible for supporting projects in the lab using techniques including RNA/DNA extraction from a range of different tissue specimens, genotyping, ELISAs and mammalian cell culture, but experience with immunohistochemistry would also be an advantage. You will also play a more general role in administrative tasks for the study.
Applicants should have BSc or equivalent degree in Biochemistry, Genetics or a related discipline. Experience in mammalian cell culture, DNA and RNA extraction and genotyping is a requirement, as are good communication and team-work skills. Excellent organisational and record keeping skills are essential.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2015 in the first instance.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
