Fixed-term post
This post provides an exciting opportunity to make a substantial contribution to a funded research project as a part of the FP7-SSH-2013-1 GLAMURS (Green Lifestyles, Alternative Models and Upscaling Regional Sustainability) project, in terms of research and management. The project aims to develop a theoretically-based and empirically-grounded understanding of the main obstacles and prospects for transitions to sustainable lifestyles and a green economy in Europe, as well as of the most effective means to support and speed them up.
You will be expected to lead the team to develop a comprehensive micro-economic model in order to capture and analyse important factors and determinants of sustainable consumption and lifestyle patterns, which includes important non-mainstream economic components from selected theories in psychology and behavioural sciences. You must have a PhD in economics, computer sciences, mathematics or other related areas in social sciences with a strong background in quantitative research methods. Experience in theoretical modelling, strong mathematical skills, in particular dynamic optimization is essential. The ability to develop and programme algorithms to solve dynamic models and conduct simulations, in particular Monte Carlo simulations, is also essential. Prior project management skills are an advantage. You should be interested in breaking theoretical new ground and open to collaborate with other disciplines. You will need to work closely with senior staff members and other project members of the EU-project.
The post is available from January 2014 for 36 months (or any agreed later date) on a full time basis.
Interviews will be held in the week commencing 13 January 2014.
Informal enquiries can be made in advance of the closing date to Professor Michael Finus via email:m.finus@bath.ac.uk or Dr Lucy O’Shea via e-mail: L.C.M.O'Shea@bath.ac.uk.
