Salary range £25,690 to £32,133 with appointment dependent on experience
The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) is one of the world's leading research orientated Botanic Gardens, and is located in a UNESCO World Heritage city famed for its scientific innovation and cultural interest. Within this setting, the RBGE delivers plant biodiversity research with outcomes scaling from local to international, and a full range of activities from taxonomic monography to biodiversity genomics to ecosystem function and services.
We are seeking to employ a bryologist with research experience in one or more of the following disciplines: taxonomy and systematics, population genetics, evolutionary biology, ecology, or ecosystem science. We are particularly interested in applicants whose work makes good use of our collections, and combines scientific excellence with conservation relevance, and who will be able to make an impact on bryophyte conservation in Scotland/UK, as well as on a broader international scale.
Applicants must be educated to PhD level (with PhD already obtained or about to be obtained) in a biodiversity science related discipline. You should be an excellent researcher with a proven track record appropriate for your career stage, and have strong scientific writing ability. You’ll also need to be an effective communicator with the ability to clearly articulate the relevance of your research to both specialist and non-specialist audiences, and good interpersonal skills will be essential to develop and maintain effective relationships with colleagues.
